Throwback to 2008. Just came back from my first ever trip to Las Vegas For grapplers quest. I had to drop to a lower weight so I wouldn’t have to get jacked up by my bro @theloucarlo
I was just a young kid having fun with the team, traveling and competing. I didn’t really know why I was good yet or why my matches were easy.. but @donaldachnick knew and he put it right on my gi sleeves “hard work beats talent when talent refuses to work hard”. @lloydirvin knew because that’s how he built the team and how we still operate today. I still haven’t had a match or have been to a tournament that’s harder than training at TLI everyday.
12 years later and now I’m going back to Vegas for @eugpromotions and my boy @supersodiq is fighting in Vegas the next week. And the mindset is still the same as it was in 08. Train hard as a team and win easy as a team, because a team can’t be beat and won’t be beat!
Ps. It’s funny because the first thing I said to my coaches after winning worlds in 2018 was “easy work”
