Jiu-Jitsu is a multi-planar activity. We move and transition in many positions requiring multiple combined movements.
There are numerous problem areas for the body that develop from training and this technique is something I have used to hit a bunch of the areas at once.
The belt is a very useful tool in getting the shoulders moving and also activating the muscle in the shoulders and the mid back prior to training with is important in getting the upper body primed for movement.
The thoracic and lumbar spine is included with a rotational and side-bending component along with hip mobility that is addressed form the lunge portion of the sequence.
This gets most of the problem areas at once and in a manner that is dynamic, useful, and effective.
