This is Why BJJ Training Makes Your Grappling Worse (at least for a while)

What’s up guys,

Today’s question is whether or not training Jiu-Jitsu makes you worse at grappling?

The question comes from an older Blue Belt named Mic, who says he’s able to hang with the young guys BUT has found himself in a peculiar situation…

He says when young/strong white belts come into the gym they’re really tough for him to deal with, forcing him to use his A-game on them & even outworking him at points in their rolls.

Then, once they start training a bit longer, they start getting “worse”.

He finds that he’s able to actually work his techniques on them when they get more experience.

He’s curious as to why I believe this happens & wonders if I have any hot tips to help him handle young football players coming into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Thanks for watching!
