Even though we recently discussed that starting from the knees in jiu-jitsu is generally a useless position, there are some things you can do to start a grappling session from the knees that can mirror what we do from the standing position. Professor Josh Simon shares a takedown form the knees that has a practical application to the standing position. From standing the takedown would be osoto gari, knee on belly to armlock. Josh shares some insight into how to secure the position and make sure you don’t miss the armlock after the takedown.
