Why is it important to have a proper turtle?
Your opponent needs to get their hooks in to secure back control, having a proper turtle can prevent those attacks (among others).
In BJJ the pose is called ‘turtle’, in yoga the pose is called ‘child’s pose’
The benefits of this pose in yoga (child’s pose) is it can ease lower back pain, increase flexibility in the hips, and improve circulation.
Many people can’t do turtle (child’s pose) properly.
The reason for this is perhaps because they are inflexible but more commonly because they don’t understand the mechanics of how to do the pose properly.
