Headlock Control Series!

This is a fantastic little submission chain of techniques that I like to teach from my white belts and beyond. The Headlock Control Series. Now when you pass your opponents guard. To get the ‘headlock control’ you will need both the head and the arm. Just getting the head in control only works on your baby brother when you were playfighting as kids. But that’s only the beginning. There are many variables at play and to get that submission on an experienced grappler, you will need to use all of them and in unison. Cradle Attack Series – One Arm Anaconda!

Now for part 3 of my cradle attack series and I have saved one of my favourites until the last. This is a really neat little submission and I found it difficult to find the origin of the name. It’s kinda like a one arm Anaconda. But with a squish at the end? Anyway, whatever it’s called, it works. And I really enjoy this. Finish That Ankle Lock!

I like to teach straight ankle locks to my white belt students. I think getting a good understanding of this part of the game early on in your Jiu-Jitsu career puts you in great shape as you progress through your game. However, many white belt students give up on Ankle locks early because they can’t seem to finish them. And the blame is placed on the Anklelock, or ‘it just doesn’t work for me’…but the reality is, the weakness is in the execution, not the technique. Escape That Triangle!

I love doing triangles. But you want to know a secret. If you know how to properly resist a triangle. You won’t fear them. I’m not saying not to try and avoid them. Of course, prevention is always best. Hip Escape Hacks!

We often learn the hip escape on our first day of Jiu Jitsu class. Often even just as the warm-up. But when we are up against a skilled practioner who has you in side control and is controlling you with pressure and stopping your hips from moving. Well, that’s just another story. Armbar Hack To Take The Back!

I’ve done a number of videos on how to break the armbar from that training partner that just won’t give in. But let’s say you do all those moves and perhaps he is still just too strong, or maybe you are just too tired or it’s just not going to be an armbar day. It happens. But don’t give in. Because often you can go from armbar to being held in side control very quickly. And that’s the worst-case scenario. What we want to do is be in a position to continue the fight. Finishing Head And Arm Chokes!

How often do we get the head and arm choke on and your training partner taps and they say ‘oh man, that cranked my neck’. Now we training in Jiu-Jitsu to, where ever possible, get the best possible choke. And really don’t want to hurt our training partners with a cranked neck.
