Head and arm variation on tai Otoshi set up for no gi from over under. This one is from the longer video of judo style throws for no gi on my YouTube channel.

This sequence ties together some elements that have overlap in the areas of self defense & combat sports. This is one of the simplest escapes for an early recognition of the rear choke attack, and it immediately sets up a good angle for the knee tap takedown from the clinch angle created. The stiff arm hip escape works well when your opponent is holding your legs or not holding you well at all, but if they body lock you or hold your hips, you will have a tough time making space with your hips.

That’s when the hip bump sweep works well. Without a posting arm, you can sweep them right away. However, a good defender might post out before you get to complete the sweep.

That’s fine too, because now they let go of your hips, allowing you to sprawl out with a front headlock. But the most stubborn of top players will continue to pressure and look to take your back.

The final step here is the neck wrench, which is a brutal wrestling throw utilizing your opponent’s chin as your main grip. The name of the move is very accurate, as you will torque their chin thoroughly as you sweep out their legs in devastating fashion.
