The mantis guard is a variation of the de la Riva guard especially useful in no gi. For early notification about a possible no gi de la Riva guard project with Rob go to https://www.grapplearts.com/no-gi-de-la-riva/
This is a pass I learned very early on and has been very effective for me.
The traditional stack pass can be difficult no gi because of the lack of friction. It can be hard when fighting the legs pushing you away or securing a shoulder grip, especially if the opponent is sweaty and slippery.
In this pass, the goal is to connect to his lower back so that his legs can’t push into me.
Pinning the knee also makes it very difficult for the opponent to backroll out of the pass.
Here is a great technique for when you attack the Kimura from half guard top and they defend by gripping their belt or pants.
If you’ve got someone in the triangle choke you want to stop them from picking you up at all costs. Here are 5 ways to shut down and deal with his standup. Here are the other techniques referred to in this video the you might also find useful, so check them out:

I’ve been doing a lot of short videos for my school’s Instagram Page (Gracie Schwarzwald) and thought I’d start uploading some of them.
They’re not like my normal videos in that they’re very short (Instagram limits me to 1 minute) and not an exploration of the techniques in any great detail.
But, I still thought you guys might enjoy seeing them.
If you like my content, check out school’s Facebook and Instagram pages (Both are Gracie Schwarzwald).
Here is an Old School armlock from side control, specifically modified side control.
I like submissions like this because even if I don’t catch the submission, I still retain the position.
If you enjoy my content, then please like and subscribe.
You can also follow me on Facebook and Instagram as Roy Marsh Jiujitsu or my school Gracie Schwarzwald.
I’ve been gone for a while but I will be back making new videos.
I will be making a video soon explaining what’s going on but the short version is I have moved to the Black Forest in Germany and have opened a new school there called Gracie Schwarzwald.
Please find us on facebook and Instagram (Gracie Schwarzwald, in both cases.)
I am working on new content and new DVDs so please like and follow this page and my school pages.
In this video, I’m doing one of the first sweeps I ever learned – I hope you enjoy it and look for more new videos soon.
