Jiu-Jitsu Escape | Side Control Escape Into Darce Choke
One of my favorite side control escapes, because of how useful it is and how many back-up plans exist in the sequence, this escape can also lead you directly into a couple of different potential submission opportunities. My favorite thing if I hit this escape is to look for the Darce choke. Let me know what you think!

Stop Getting Smashed in Side Control as a BJJ White Belt (Try This)
Getting flattened out in Side Control and being stuck underneath someone can be one of the toughest things to deal with as a White Belt in BJJ.
In the video a 6 Week White Belt is having this exact problem. He’s getting flattened out and crushed underneath larger Blue and Purple Belts.
Now as I express in the video. If you’re a BJJ White Belt and you’re against a Blue or Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
There’s probably nothing you can do to deal with it.
Their experience in Brazilian Jiujitsu will typically be too great for you to deal with.
But one of the simple lessons that really makes a big difference when trying to escape Side Control.
Is start by forgetting about the actual escape. And see if you can simply stay on your side.
If you’re on your side, your ability to escape Side Control goes up dramatically.
And I find that my White Belts experience a sharp increase in their ability to escape Cross Side in BJJ by simply focusing 1st on staying on their side.
So if you are experiencing this same issue. My challenge to you is this!
When you’re rolling during your next BJJ class. Just see if you can stay on your side by using the tips described in this video.
Hope the video helped!

BJJ concepts: Building Structures and Frames for your Jiu Jitsu
Free BJJ Courses at https://www.mmaleech.com/free-stuff/
Instead of showing you a specific technique, today I want to explain how to use a concept across many different techniques.
Knowing how to build structures for your Jiu Jitsu is extremely important if you want to be energy efficient. You are going to use your bone structure instead of your muscles…
You can build those structures from the bottom position, top, standing, offensively, and defensively.
I show several examples in the video above, and it would be awesome if you could reply to me telling me some of your favorite frames & structures.
Hope to hear from you!

Maintaining Back Control Ankle Flick
During class this week we put an emphasis on triage and how to salvage a good position once your opponent starts to escape.
This is an important skill and one that is fairly common. In the other videos on this series I show some variations of this where your foot placement is a little more aggressive in maintaining a good position.

Jiu-Jitsu Defensive Techniques | Punch-Proofing Positions
In training primarily grappling, and especially much on the ground, it is easy to get caught up focusing only on the competitive aspects in which striking is not involved. This can create some bad habits that leave you exposed for punches in many of your positions and transitions.
Bad habits can be avoided or remedied by including striking elements and considerations into your grappling training. I believe this is important even if your primary focus is competitive or sportive grappling, as it maintains your ability to handle striking situations for mma and self-defense situations.
Here are a few ideas that will help to punch-proof common positions from the ground grappling aspect.
