I cover a topic here that I try all the time to get people to understand – namely, that there is no best technique or version of a technique and that once a combative reality changes the technique must change in order to function more effectively within it.
To illustrate this, I cover how you would address finishing a single leg in wrestling and the mindset behind it and how that same finish would be less effective in BJJ.
I encourage people to learn each Art as it was intended but never get drawn into thinking that because it or one of its techniques is very effective in one setting that it is necessarily effective across all settings.
