The bridge and roll is basic. It is simple. It is taught very early on in the white belt syllabus – but so many of us stop using it. Because they are not using it correctly. There are some simple tricks that in reality are not tricks…they are MUSTS. If you do them…the bridge and roll will be your favorite technique. Not a forgotten one. So, watch this video. We have all done it. We don’t always get the best grips when we go for the cross chokes but we go for them anyway! It’s a common mistake and it is of course very frustrating. The AWESOME LEG LASSO Into LEG BAR Entrance…we looked at something similar recently – the lasso into catapult sweep, which is one of my favorites. If you have the time take a look at that video. This one uses a similar process but moves into a leg bar. Which is a brilliant submission and really hard to stop. It’s actually much easier than it might sound. Take a look at the video. A ‘must have’ in the BJJ arsenal. The hitchhiker escape from the Armbar. This technique can quickly turn a very bad day for you into a very bad day for your opponent. And it really is rather simple and the mechanics when you think about it – rather straight forward. The great thing is that many Jiu Jitsu competitors either forget about the escape (and hence the counter) or just have not seen it at all. Give it a try on the mat. Let me know how you do.
