Just type on BJJ fingers into Google Images and you will see what happens when you get injured fingers in Jiu Jitsu. It’s not pretty. But it does not have to be that way. There is a simple technique a simple hack that can change all of that. It might take a while to adjust at first but once you do…all those aching and injured finger days will be behind you. I have been asked many a time to add commentary to some of the rolls that I have filmed and posted. As my regular viewers would know, I roll regularly with my students. Many times in a continuous series. So that I get a chance to stretch my cardio and give the students time to catch their breath and think about their next attack/approach. So someone has you in mount – do you have an escape plan? do you have a methodology that works? that helps against that person that holds you in super tight? or perhaps that guy that is spread wide and perhaps a bit loose – so you just can’t seem to budge him / can’t bridge and roll him. Well, this video is for you. Here are two moves, when used together will get you out of mount (nearly) every single time. Watch the video, try it on the mat. And let me know how you go.

In this video, I discuss using the lapel to give you a little edge if you are being pinned by a big heavy guy. This clever little hack can be used incredibly effectively and to be honest, – It is super simple! At the beginner level, lapels are not used as often. But they should. Why not? they provide a great little advantage and a potentially huge payoff with little investment from your side. Check out this video and give it a try on the mat. Let me know how you go

Sometimes when you are going for the cutting armbar from the bottom your opponent pushes down low and presses towards the ground. Perhaps you have not placed your knee in as a protection against this defense…but no problem, you can move straight into the Kimura! Watch as I demonstrate this move, I think you will like it. Try it out on the mats and let me know how it goes.

The AWESOME – Cutting Armbar! this is a quick look at part of a session on cutting armbars I did with my class recently. It is a really tough move and opens up many opportunities. Defenses against it are limited but (as always with Jiu Jitsu) there are counters to the counters. Take a look at this video. Treat the technique with respect. Let me know what you think
