This is an effective variation of Yoko Guruma (Side Wheel) and can be (and is) used in all grappling sports (whether in a “gi” or “no gi” situation), including MMA. Yoko Guruma is one of the 15 throws of Kodokan Judo’s Nage No Kata (Form of Throwing); giving credence to the point that some things are “so old fashioned they are cool” and if applied right, stand the test of time.
