This is a review video of Daniel O’brien’s Darce counter that he posted about a week ago. I was skeptical at first as were many others on Facebook when he released this smooth looking counter to the Darce choke. I respect Dan’s skills a lot and told him I would investigate further and realized the genius of his technique. I wanted to add my preferred finish to the escape as well as let Dan know that I truly appreciate his contribution to our grappling/bjj world. Thank you Daniel O’Brien.

This series of footlocks/heelhooks goes into great detail and gains momentum. Rewards for close viewing are considerable. Footlocks and heelhooks are increasingly important in a grappler arsenal. You need to know how to execute them and defend them. Check this video out and let me know what you think…

My good friend, super BJJ athlete, and rising star Prof Mark Knudsen gives a quick demonstration of a brilliant technique…A pendulum sweep – straight into a Reverse Triangle. Check it out. I know you will love it. Try it on the mat and let me know how you go.

A quick Vlog from my Jiu Jitsu Training Trip in Dallas, TX. I’ve been training hard…and there is nothing like a plunge into a cold pool after a hard days training. I’ve been thinking about how we leverage different attributes in BJJ. People bring different characteristics to the mat…some its youth, some its flexibility some its strength and some its cardio. Thinking about your various skills and weaknesses and that of your opponents can shape the way you approach a roll. Remember to work and leverage your strengths and try and exploit your opponents weaknesses. Listen to this quick travel vlog as I discuss this in more detail…
You might remember my video on the Awesome Roger Machado American – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xscg5rfunbc
It’s such a brilliant technique. You might have also seen me use it a few times in my rolling with my students. It is incredibly effective and deceptively powerful. Don’t underestimate it.
And I’ve been super lucky to have the Legend – Prof Roger Machado himself talk over the technique for you guys. I hope you love it. Try it out on the mat and let me know how it goes.
Frank Mir demonstrates a really interesting grip that he likes to use to complete the Guillotine! Check it out!

When I get caught in a half guard – no problem. I just change shape. And that usually solves much of the problem and enables me to get out and back in control. Not so with this awesome RCJ Blackbelt! Watch this little trick. Easy to do and very effective.

This is a quick video of me rolling with a few of my students. It was fun and thought it would be nice to share. I always allow my competitor students to get more rolling in with me after class and by the end of rolling with them once or twice back to back no rest with fresh guys, I am spent!
