I love D’arce chokes. So do many of the guys in my academy. They are super tough. Super powerful. All body types can get them but they do favour the longer limbed lanky guys. I think one of the great things about this attack is that they are quite sneaky! and because of this – the set-up is key. I go over this in detail guys. I recently posted on the Chewjitsu Facebook and Instagram about random questions people had. Fun, silly, personal, etc. They could be related to Brazilian Jiu-jitsu or not.

There were literally hundreds of questions so I might make a few videos off of them.

I chose some that were interesting, useful or just questions that I had funny stories to share from my BJJ and MMA career. My favorite story in this video is probably about my stinkiest moment in MMA.

Ricardo Delariva gets his Red & Black Belt from 2 Red Belts in front of his family and students. Delariva reached this pinnacle in his career after more than 3 decades as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and creating multiple world champions.

The ceremony took place at Rio Othon Hotel in Copacana.

O renomado mestre Ricardo De La Riva será graduado neste domingo (19), às 10h, em Copacabana (RJ), com a faixa-coral (vermelha e preta). Criador da “Guarda De La Riva”, Ricardo se juntará a um seleto grupo de apenas 22 pessoas agraciadas com o 7º dan do jiu-jitsu em todo o mundo. A graduação acontece durante o 1° Encontro de Escolas Afiliadas Delariva, que será realizado neste fim de semana (18 e 19).

O evento contará com presenças ilustres da nova e velha geração da arte suave. Entre os presentes estarão: Reyson Gracie, Robson Gracie, Murilo Bustamante, Bebeo Duarte, Carlão Barreto, Fernando Pinduka, Amaury Bitetti, Rogério Minotouro, Paulão Filho e Cláudia do Val.

O encontro reunirá em seu primeiro dia representantes de todas as 70 academias DELARIVA espalhadas pelo planeta (39 no Brasil e 31 no exterior). Knee ride is an enormously powerful control position. And for your opponent. It is incredibly uncomfortable. The problem is, it’s so uncomfortable, that they will move quickly and with energy to get you out of knee ride. Of course, it’s during this time that your opponent is opening up great opportunities for submissions for you. But, only if you are able to maintain balance and maintain that knee ride. One of my favorite positions in BJJ is the Belly Down Back Mount.

To me, I think it’s easily one of the worst if not THE WORST position in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

From a fight that involves punches, it’s incredibly nasty as the person on bottom has no reasonable way to defend themselves.

For Brazilian Jiujitsu it can be equally soul crushing as the person on top can drive their full weight into the back and easily snag the rear naked choke.

In this video I show how to get to the Belly Down Back Mount from other forms of Back Mount when the person defends the rear naked choke.

I also throw in some simple adjustments for getting the submission with the rear naked choke.

I’ve used these adjustment countless times in BJJ rolling and competition to get the victory.
