In our second Q&A, a viewer asked me what I thought the most important self defense technique is.
This was my take. Obviously, there are thousands of techniques but I decided not to show a technique per se because no technique solves all problems.
Of course knowing how to recognise and avoid a conflict is the most important “self defense” technique there is.
But, from a purely physical aspect this is one I would encourage people to master. Being able to deny a potential threat the ability to control or strike you is invaluable.
This is something I have my students practice regularly. I obviously want them to be very efficient at striking, takedowns, groundwork, etc. But, I really want them to have the physical tools not to have to resort to those options.
