Brazilian jiu Jitsu, American Jiu Jitsu? // Something I don’t know if many americans realize is that the jiu jitsu we do in competition was brought here from brazil! In the early 2000s the brazilians came to america and brought their jiu jitsu knowledge! Basically we were like a project to the brazilian people to spread their sport to us!! Brazil not only dominates jiu jitsu, but has accomplished something else, they have successfully expanded jiu jitsu now to so many different countries and now there are starting to be champions in these countries. I feel like what I represent in jiu jitsu, is the success of brazil’s expansion of jiu jitsu into america. Most of my coaches were brazilian from a young age so I feel when I am successful in competition, I am not against the brazilians, actually the opposite, when I succeed I show their success in spreading jiu jitsu to the world. The success of Brazil to make jiu jitsu international! That is why things like “American jiu jitsu,” I really don’t like. In reality we are all doing Brazilian jiu jitsu, and we are all a part of their project. Thank you Brazil and the brazilian people for bringing to the US the sport that I fell in love with. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the name of the sport! We are Americans in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I am very proud to be American, but I am also proud to be practicing a Brazilian sport called Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. ❤️🇺🇸🇧🇷.

🇧🇷 American Jiu Jitsu?! ??

POSTING ARMS // a concept I discuss in my instructional is how Every time my opponent posts an arm some of their weight from their legs and body goes to that posting arm. We use this to our advantage when applying the berimbolo, because the less weight the opponent has on their legs, the lighter the person will be to lift them and connect our hips to theirs establishing back control. This basic berimbolo variation notice how when I see the front arm posted, I transfer all my opponents weight off their legs (using my whole body to do so) onto that posted arm making my opponent so light to lift. I think that’s such an important concept to understand! Ossss! @bjj.fanatics

🇧🇷 Eai pessoal, aqui to falando sobre um grande conceito q sempre faço qdo to fazendo o berimbolo. Então todo vez qdo to fazendo o berimbolo to tentando mudar o peso do meu adversário completamente pro braço q tá postando no chão. Essa posição no vídeo e o berimbolo básico com o braço na frente postando. Veja como uso o meu corpo inteiro pra mudar o peso dele completamente pro braço no chão então posso conectar o meu quadril pra ele e finalizar o berimbolo! Espero q vc pode entender esse conceito! Osssss
BOLO CLIP •• BERIMBOLO BACK ARM POSTING FAMILY TO PULLING PERSON TO YOU PARTS 5 and 7 from DVD COMBINED // Hey guys! Anyone that has started watching the dvd I will start posting more clips of matches of myself and many others now literally citing the exact sequences and what is happening in the from my dvd! Please watch this is try to list what is happening like I have! The better you get at doing this the deeper an understanding you will be able to accomplish with the berimbolo! BERIMBOLO EXPLANATION // Grip – Near Hip —> World 2 – Weight on back leg —> Goal – Sweep (Top Berimbolo Family) —> Reaction – Opponent defends posting their back arm (posting family) —> Objective- Pull opponents hip to me —> Reaction – his right arm creates frame where he keeps weight on back leg position used (Part 7 Back take #3) —> Goal – We use concept now because we cant pull him to us we use the anchor he created to stay heavy against him and we go to him —> Hip connection achieved —> Reaction – Opponent defends by forward rolling —> I follow his roll doing the identical motion that he does! —> Now hips still connected (Pulling person to you family activated Part 5 on dvd) weights on his legs —> Able to bring opponents spine up (climbing family activated) —> Climbing Grips used – Far side shoulder to choke grip (Part 5 on dvd) —> Head above his head – Berimbolo Complete @shoyoroll @bjj.fanatics
BERIMBOLO TO CRAB RIDE // Berimbolo system part 2 translation of sequence from one of my matches Saturday. So the biggest concept you will learn in berimbolo is this is a fight of connecting my hips to my opponents hips, THEN getting my head above their head. Please watch this sequence MULTIPLE TIMES, one time the fight of connecting my hips to my opponents hips and the next time watching me fighting to raise my head above their head. Berimbolo is literally just two things over and over. My opponent switches their weight from their shoulders to their legs. When their weights on their shoulders the Stack Family is applicable, When their weight is on their legs The Pull in (Pulling Persons hips to my hips) is applicable. You need to understand that whenever we attempt one of these back takes my opponent’s defense is going back to the other!!! Watch in the berimbolo language below how my opponent switches from each reaction back and forth and I slowly use the climbing family grips and all the leg positionings from the system and keep alternating between both back take variations to eventually get my head above their head! It’s so fascinating to watch!! Part 2 of the system will be released after part 1 and like I said numerous times mastering of part 1 is essential in moving on to part 2! So here I will translate this “Complex” sequence for you guys! Don’t get overwhelmed I promise this is “Simple” and will make sense once you watch and learn!! I stop before the finish because I want to explain in another video a super cool setup I do from the back! Ossss @shoyoroll @bjj.fanatics
BERIMBOLO TO DOUBLE LEG BOLO // Berimbolo system part 1 translation of sequence : World 1 – weight on legs World 1 – weight on front hip Grip – Near hip family (ASIS) Anterior Superior Iliac Spine Inverted method – shoulders Angle of hips = off body = options ( Double leg bolo or ladderbolo ) double leg bolo chosen —> Hip connection to hip achieved —> Climbing family activated – (far hip to ribs and far shoulder to choke grip climbing family grips used) —> pull opponent to me connecting my hips to their hips —> head above opponents head —> bolo complete. This is a preview of the Language of the berimbolo I created in my berimbolo system! This exact sequence I teach in my system of berimbolo and I teach how to translate it as well due to the reaction, grip families and angle of their hips! Berimbolo becomes so simple once it’s systemized and grouped in this way! I can’t wait for you guys to see this dvd and to learn the LANGUAGE OF THE BERIMBOLO !! A more “complex” I will post tmw in the same format ❤️😊🙏🏻 @shoyoroll @bjj.fanatics PORTUGUÊS ⬇️🇧🇷
PASSING THE KNEE SHIELD / SINGLE LEG TO MOUNT – here is a clip of Top Player Mikey from yesterday! Some interesting things to notice is how I address the knee shield focusing on the bottom leg instead of the top leg! When I was a kid it was the hardest spot for me to deal with because everyone always taught me to fight the top leg. Bottom leg 1 billion times better! One of my favorite options when they go to the single leg here is the top canto choke I learned from @caioterrabjj but I can’t keep him on his side, so now I attack the back since I already have the choke grip on his neck. Notice my right arm gets the grip hugging his back. He feels in danger of the back and now places both shoulders on the mat but now I have my hugging grip with my right arm completely controlling his hips making it extremely easy to pummel my legs and achieve mount position! WE NEVER FORCE ANYTHING WE JUST GO WITH WHAT THEY GIVE US! Just wanted to give you guys a description of what was going on in my mind during the match! Some cool bolos I will post from the event the next two days! ❤️😊🤠 OSSS @shoyoroll // @bjj.fanatics
Inverting vs Berimbolo (FACEBOLO FTW) // “Oh I can’t do berimbolo, it requires insane flexibility in my neck.” Another HUGE misconception about the berimbolo is the flexibility in the neck that the position requires. It’s funny, because using my neck to invert is actually my LEAST favorite way to “invert” into the berimbolo. Now there are numerous ways to achieve this position, which I will of course be showing eventually in Setups to get into this system, but this is a BASIC example of a way to accomplish getting into the berimbolo with just the motion of a basic forward roll. I want you to pay attention to my neck in this video. Does my neck at any point bend like you believed it would have to in order to do the berimbolo? “If you can forward roll then you can BOLO.” Forward Roll —-> Bolo . I will be posting more and more videos soon of not even having to roll at all! ❤️😉 @bjj.fanatics @flograppling
BERIMBOLO FTW! We are almost ready to release my first instructional on the berimbolo system. Now a lot of people when they think of berimbolo they think of a small flexible guy. I want to change this misconception of the position. Everyone can do it! I show various alternative methods to inverting as well as the most comprehensive systematized approach to a position ever! You will see on the dvd how everything is linked into 2 worlds, everything has its own families and classes, and we can simply go based on their reaction into each of these classes and families. I even made a diagram of us being able to move into each spot! I really don’t want to just show you moves to mimic, my goal is for you to have complete mastery conceptually of this position! And I really will be here to not only answer your questions, but to see your progress and development in the position as well. I’m so excited to start this new part of my life and i cant wait to see all of your progress. I will be here for all of you every step of the way! Just trust me i promise it will be great!!! Thank you so much 🙂 ❤ @bjj.fanatics @shoyoroll
