I’m uploading this cuz it’s 50 years old and awesome. His unthrowability sections at 25:25 and 56:45, and ne waza at 30:45 minutes may be some of the most important footage for judo and aikidoists I’ve ever seen, IMO.
Note that I’m not monetizing this because I’m not sure who, anymore, owns it. I’ve had it on my machine for ages, didn’t see it online, so shared it. Let me know if anyone has a compelling copyright claim. Best wishes.

A great classic fight between John Lewis and Gracie. At this time the Gracie’s were considered unbeatable. This fight was the first to show their vulnerability. Love it or hate it. It’s a classic. Notice Vitor Belfort before his first fight and the great Carlson Sr, in his corner. John Perretti commentating and Gokar refereeing.
Kanō Jigorō was the founder of judo. Judo was the first Japanese martial art to gain widespread international recognition, and the first to become an official Olympic sport. Pedagogical innovations attributed to Kanō include the use of black and white belts, and the introduction of dan ranking to show the relative ranking between members of a martial art style. Well-known mottoes attributed to Kanō include “Maximum Efficiency with Minimum Effort” and “Mutual Welfare and Benefit.”
