Armbar To Hitchhiker Escape

It’s is really hard to describe how effective the hitchhiker escape from the armbar is…To me the best way to prove and really feel it’s effectiveness is to actually do it. However, the biggest determinants in it’s success is your confidence in its effectiveness. Catch 22. So, my advice is two fold. First, drill, drill and drill some more. Make this second nature. I’ve had many students, say they tried, but went the wrong way, or were too slow or etc etc…you can get this out of your system by practice. The second is confidence and belief. Well guys, some times you have to ‘fake it until you make it’ and if that gets you over the line with this move. Then fine. But believe in it. And you will find your armbar escapes go through the roof. In fact, you will be so effective at it, your rolling partners will stop using this submission on you. I had a student that ‘faked’ an armbar – just so he could use the hitchhiker to get out of trouble. It works. Give it a try on the mat guys and let me know how you go…

Defending Against A Street Fight Punch

The most common punch on the street is often called the ‘haymaker’…. this is a punch where the arm is whipped sideways from the shoulder joint with minimal elbow bend. The motion is very similar to manually cutting hay. A street fight that involves punching…can be incredibly unpredictable. And being able to defend is key…in this video, I go over some of the basics.
