Specifc training has always been a huge part of my training program. Specifc training allows you to maximize your training time by hyper focusing on one situation. The difficulty with most training is that there are so many variables , its hard to solve patterns, by starting from one spot you can really maximize how efficiently you use your time.

This video I discuss a common frustration for students which is the problem or losing to a less experienced opponent. The truth is losing to someone less experienced is very common in the first few years of jiu jitsu because bridging the physical and natural talent gap with technique takes a long time but it can be done you just must be patient and learn to embrace the process of understanding. Let me know if you have any other conceptual questions you want answered.

This set up is one of my favorite submissions when Iโm passing the guard. Often when you are passing with a knee cut pass your opponent will try to defend and switch to deep half guard if they try to go for this once I have gotten the undertook grip on their arm already this usually leaves them open for a brutal shoulder lock. I have used this technique in competition and many times in the gym. Also recently Matheus Gabriel used this in the finals of worlds vs Marcio Andre although set up from Reverse De La Riva, this is my favorite variation set up from the Half Guard.
