Once you start to become threatening with your lapel guards you’ll often find your opponents will try to posture up and/or back away to avoid the position rather than engage and pressure in. This absence of pressure is the perfect opportunity to take your leg out of the worm hole and quickly come up on a single with the lapel reinforcing your takedown.

This technique has been dubbed the “Gimura” and presents itself when your opponent grabs both pants and tries to stiff arm your legs away when using the lapel lasso.
