?Judo (柔道 jūdō, “gentle way”) – Did you know – The philosophy and subsequent pedagogy developed for judo became the model for other modern Japanese martial arts. Judo also spawned a number of derivative martial arts across the world, such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Krav Maga and Sambo. #TheMoreYouKnow ?
Having the opportunity to coach for a living is something I appreciate, am thankful for and covet. I am fortunate to have found something in life (combat sports) that I love – the fact that I am able to earn a living coaching teaching and training athletes I admire, is a task I am humbly honored to have and greatly cherish. Witnessing these 2 world class fighters/grapplers train together safely and learn from one another other is an experience worth sharing. Ryan Hall and Dominick Cruz are amongst the top fighters in their respective divisions – their styles couldn’t be more different. These kinds of match ups are the most intriguing to me from a technical point of view. One of the none technical take aways from overseeing this session was that even at the HIGHEST levels of excellence, these 2 were able to put their ego aside, step out of their comfort zones and learn something a bit unfamiliar and become better moving forward for long term success. ??♂️ // #WrestleJudoJitsu
Dynamic vs. static drilling: @jdenle (currently ranked #2 in CA) and @joe.curtis234 (currently ranked #3 in CA) warm up by going through an egoless dynamic flow-roll. This form of drilling is essential to becoming a high level grappler and wrestler. This type of training allows both participants to see a myriad of positions (both offensive and defensive) with varied resistance – which allows smooth transitions between techniques, thus creating openings that would normally be difficult to recognize when static drilling (I do 3, you do 3 w/ no resistance). Being comfortable in and out of positional dominance and being able work positively through both scenarios will help improve the ability to remain calm in a chaotic exchange and scramble well. These 2 young future D1 athletes make it look easy. @trititans #WrestleJudoJitsu
