Andy Hung demonstrates the “clock choke” a very popular, and effective, shimewaza. It is called the clock choke because you move around like a clock in order to effect the technique. This technique is known in Japanese as koshi-jime because you thrust your hips outwards as you do the clockwork motion. His video is available at www.judofanatics.com.

The Switch is a technique involving a forward feint followed by a tani-otoshi. Interestingly, in the UK this technique is commonly referred to as The Twitch, and sometimes it involves a kosoto rather than a tani-otoshi. It’s a great technique to do when uke is overly defensive because he fears your forward attack.
