This was always one of my go-to moves! And believe it or not, I only did it left handed as you can see from the video. I developed when my gripping sequences were getting stopped Right vs. Left. When I kept getting stuck, I didn’t register the situation as “I’m doing something wrong” I took it as “this needs a solution.” So, I came up with one. A very effective one at that, I have one a lot of matches international with this technique.

Sometimes it’s not about taking the grip off but instead getting your opponent to make a more significant commitment to keeping it. Judo the gentle way! Although sometimes/most of the time I use a lot of force behind my judo. There are subtle things that I do that allow me to conserve my energy and are highly effective.
