Here are a couple of my favorite high-percentage options from deep half guard. This position has been a game changer and saved me a lot over the years. In this video I show you a good setup for a waiter sweep and an option for taking the back. Huge thanks to Paulo Rubio for the amazing filming and editing and to Chad Lyman from Xtreme Couture Las Vegas for the assist!
If you like me and like Paulo Rubio’s filming and editing, you should grab a copy of my dvd “The Bladed Grappler” which focuses on knife defense considerations on the ground. It’s available at ApertureFightFocused.com.

You’ve probably already heard of the saying ‘you’re only as young as your spine is flexible’. As a jiu jitsu athlete, you’ve probably felt it as well.
How old does your spine feel after a few days of training?
You’ll find a much needed set of spinal stretches in this 10 minute video. Do them before training and after training for best results, or whenever you find a 10 minute block of time.

In training primarily grappling, and especially much on the ground, it is easy to get caught up focusing only on the competitive aspects in which striking is not involved. This can create some bad habits that leave you exposed for punches in many of your positions and transitions.
Bad habits can be avoided or remedied by including striking elements and considerations into your grappling training. I believe this is important even if your primary focus is competitive or sportive grappling, as it maintains your ability to handle striking situations for mma and self-defense situations.
Here are a few ideas that will help to punch-proof common positions from the ground grappling aspect.

I spent the week training with Salter and a UFC vet. Needless to say it was some great training! I wanted to give all my viewers a different look and an awesome setup that salter does on his dance. I have seen salter hit this on some high level grapplers.
let me know what you think and if you have any questions I will be back in town Monday to start filming again!
