Back Mount Just Got Worse . . . For Your Opponent
One of my favorite positions in BJJ is the Belly Down Back Mount.
To me, I think it’s easily one of the worst if not THE WORST position in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
From a fight that involves punches, it’s incredibly nasty as the person on bottom has no reasonable way to defend themselves.
For Brazilian Jiujitsu it can be equally soul crushing as the person on top can drive their full weight into the back and easily snag the rear naked choke.
In this video I show how to get to the Belly Down Back Mount from other forms of Back Mount when the person defends the rear naked choke.
I also throw in some simple adjustments for getting the submission with the rear naked choke.
I’ve used these adjustment countless times in BJJ rolling and competition to get the victory.
I hope it helps you!

BUTTERFLY SWEEP BJJ
BUTTERFLY SWEEP BJJ
A favourite SWEEP from the BUTTERFLY GUARD; the key to successfully getting the top position is not to let go of your grips on your opponent. By holding on you create enough leverage to get yourself over your left shoulder and into side control and carry on the fight from there.

The Reverse Kimura by Budo Jake
“I’m excited to announce my newest project. This instructional is completely focused on the Reverse Kimura. This is a position I’ve been experimenting with for the past 4 years. I’ve taught quite a few classes on it and I use it in sparring all the time. Now I feel ready to share it all with you. In total, there are 8 sweeps and 10 submissions, not to mention chapters on setting up the grip. I can’t count how many students have told me that this became their go to move after showing them. I hope you will fit it into your Jiu Jitsu as well!” – Budo Jake
The reverse kimura is a unique control position that can be used to transition for sweeps, back takes and a wide variety of submissions. Relatively unknown to most BJJ practitioners, the reverse kimura is a great position to study and understand to give you an edge in sparring or competition.

When Are You Responsible for Your Training Partner’s Injury ?
Is it ok to hurt your training partners during a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu session? When are you responsible for your training partner’s injury ?
The question for this video related to this question in a way.
Our friend was recently training with one of his teammates during BJJ practice. And during this practice he attempted several different submissions and attempts to finish the match.
Eventually he snagged an armbar and slowly pulled forward. After securing the position and his partner still not tapping. He began to apply pressure slowly until his rolling partner cried out in pain.
He let go and afterwards felt terrible. He asked his coach if he had messed up or if there was something to keep in mind. His coach told him that Brazilian Jiujitsu is a tough sport and accidents happen.
So Jason is basically searching to get another perspective on the event that came from his submission.
In this video I share two stories that have accidents involved in them. 1 was where I accidentally injured one of my training partners after a situation where I became upset. While I never intended to hurt him. I did so as a fault of my own negative emotions.
I also share a story where my nose was broken due to accident during a BJJ training session once. This time it was an accident which was not fueled with any sort of negative emotions.
If you’re in a similar situation. I hope the video is helpful!

1 Surefire Way to Ruin A Child’s BJJ Experience
You’ll notice the tinge of anger in this video because of the nature of the subject.
The question I received was concerning parents who seems to be a bit to aggressive with their presence on the mat. In the situation our friend describes. He says that some parents are jumping on the mat to record video, cheering for their children during rolling, etc.
I’m not positive I did a good job of answering his question.
But in the video I focus on the idea that I believe parent’s of kids in the BJJ class should not be allowed to coach or really have much interaction with their kids during the action of class.
1 reason for this is that if the kids inside the Brazilian Jiujitsu class is focused on their parent’s instead of their coaches and training. It steals their attention and robs them of the potential they have.
The even more insidious issue is that it often transforms the experience for the child from a positive one to a negative one.
So my advice in the video is that parent’s should not coach their kids during Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes. And if you are a BJJ coach. That should be one of the rules I would stick to with the classes.
Thanks!
