Today’s question is about getting a medal for losing all your matches in a BJJ competition. The question comes from a guy who was in a 3-man division, lost both of his matches and got a 3rd place medal.
He said that when the medal was offered to him, he didn’t accept it. He didn’t feel like he earned it. And he sent the question to me about whether or not he did the “right” thing by not accepting the medal.
So I chat about the idea, briefly, about participation medals in BJJ competitions and why I think his decision was better than the 1 that many people make when they become too attached to medals and trophies.
