This is such an excellent pass. It is so simple and only requires a few little tips to the execution. The success rate is very high and I use it often on the mat. So do many of my students. Give it a try yourself and let me know how you go.

In Jiu-Jitsu we often start from our Knees. But this technique works from the knees or from standing. Does not matter. Get the throw, if it doesn’t work…move straight into an Armbar. It’s incredibly effective and can end the roll/match within seconds. A couple of my students did exactly that in a recent competition. Check out the video and try it yourself on the mat. This is not a common submission. But it’s not hard either. And it’s a little bit tricky. So can catch your training partner off guard. I am sure you will get submission success with this on the mat. Watch the video and give it a try on the mat…and let me know how it works out…

The north-south position is very common in Jiu Jitsu. Certainly it is in my academy! But the counter to it is far easier than people tend to think. It’s a great submission and it much easier than many think. It takes a little thought and some attention to some details but when done properly it’s a guaranteed tap! Watch the video as I discuss those details. Try it on the mat and let me know how it goes.

Another really easy practice – this time to massively improve the power of both your Kimura and Footlocks. You won’t believe the improvements that will be made. And all it takes is practice and as with the choke practice, you can do this effortlessly while watching TV and the 100 or 1,000 reps you need to make your techniques unstoppable. Try it. I love the spider guard. It is one of my favorite guards and many of my students love to use it. I this video I will show you a little technique that will let you pass the spider guard – easy! Check it out and try it out on the mats. Let me know how you go!

This little maneuver is a cheeky choke when you are in someone’s closed guard. Now of course, everyone says you should never attempt a choke when in someone’s guard.
