in the live video today world champion @zachkaina taught a private lesson to mick, 9 years old yellow belt from artofjiujitsu academy. more important than the techniques, is the lesson on how to keep the class fun and challenging for a younger/smaller student.

this video is from the end of 2008, we stayed in the US after winning worlds as brown belts and competed in a local event. two months after this tournament we went back to Brazil and received our black belts. less than one year after this tournament Rafael won the ADCC in Barcelona beating Cobrinha and Leo Vieira. We had never watched this footage until yesterday, its nice to see how our game was 12 years ago and how the techniques we were using at that time have influenced the way the new generation fights nowadays.

este vídeo é do final de 2008, ficamos nos EUA depois de ganhar o mundial na faixa marrom e competimos em um evento local. dois meses após este mesmo campeonato, voltamos ao Brasil e recebemos nossas faixas preta. menos de um ano após esse evento, Rafael venceu o ADCC em Barcelona, vencendo Cobrinha e Leo Vieira. Ontem recebemos estes videos, é bom ver como nosso jogo era há 12 anos atrás e como as técnicas que estávamos usando naquela época influenciaram a maneira como a nova geração luta hoje em dia.
