Is there a position you can get into where when you are being crushed…you can be safe (relatively), regain your breath and wait for a (very likely) opening for you to regain control? well, the Pillow Defence might be such a position. Countering the SINGLE LEG Takedown Into the KIMURA Trap!
The single leg takedown is a great takedown technqiue and maybe the most used in grappling. But there are a number of great counters and this particular one places you into a fantastic kill position. Starting from knees: TAKEDOWN/ARMBAR combo!
In Jiu-Jitsu we often start from our Knees. But this technique works from the knees or from standing. Does not matter. Get the throw, if it doesn’t work…move straight into an Armbar. It’s incredibly effective and can end the roll/match within seconds. A couple of my students did exactly that in a recent competition. Check out the video and try it yourself on the mat.
