This is one of the first sweeps I like to teach people, because it is very simple and effective. It also combos well into a lot of moves, like the Kimura, Triangle Choke, Guillotine Choke, Half Crucifix, the Switch, and many more.
One of the main things people struggle with (as you will see here), is getting into proper position to initiate the hip bump. This is a great move for all people, but if you are long limbed, you will have an extra advantage because of how much you can elevate your hips.

One of the easiest ways of getting stuck in the guard is being in bad posture. Bad postures allow your opponent to easily hold their guard, submit you, sweep, you, and do all sorts of other bad things.
Good posture, however, allows you to weaken their guard, minimize threats, and achieve good striking positions.
In this video, I go over 3 basic postures: striking, grappling, and broken. I will say even at a black belt level, its very rare to find someone who has the striking posture down 100% – they always miss one detail regarding head positioning that is crucial.

One of the simplest and most effective guards for someone to learn is the Overhook guard. It’s pretty much a basic clinch that ties up the opponent and doesn’t allow them to do much of anything.
When they do struggle to escape, they can put themselves in arm bars, omoplatas, and of course, the triangle choke.
I show my method of setting up the triangle choke, which works for pretty much everyone as I’m not super flexible, and some finishing details most people aren’t aware of – that will have you finishing more triangles quickly.

That’s how long it has been since my last new instructional video post.
I’m working with a new student now, that I’m teaching from scratch as a white belt. So I think it will be informative for everyone to see just how I’m going to shape and mold this individual.
These first few videos will be basics, but as time goes on, we will get more advanced as he learns more about the fight game.
Even so, I work to break down every moving part so that even as a veteran, you might learn a thing or two. The first video is just about using the basic closed guard and the overhook.

This video I have Lucas Lepri 6x World champion go over some of his key details to the sit up guard. The sit up guard in my opinion is the most efficient sweeping position in all of jiu jitsu. Lucas has used it for more than a decade. In addition the sit up guard works extremely well vs heavy opponents for sweeps as long as you know the small details. Lucas has more content on his series on.

In today’s BJJ rolling video you’ll see me moving around in the gi during one of our classes. When you watch the rolling you’ll see Adam almost take my back, another student (Nick) hits a beautiful lapel sweep on me and during this time I was personally on the hunt for straight armlocks. This is 1 of my favorite types of submissions in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
When you watch the rolling I’m constantly looking for any straight armlock or variation of the technique I can hit and manage to hit a couple of different variations.
I hope you enjoy the video and may it inspire you to go on the hunt for armlocks with your own Jiu-jitsu.

Today’s BJJ technique video is a request for a Guillotine Choke from Full Guard. This is one of the earliest submissions I learned in Brazilian Jiujitsu. As I show in the video, this particular technique set up works off of the basic Kimura Sweep / Hip Bump Sweep position.
If the sweep fails you come right back into the submission. Which is a valuable lesson in itself for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Learning to chain techniques together so that even if 1 thing fails, you can always move on to another.
Also in the video I give some key points on finishing the Guillotine Choke efficiently as well as how to change your grip and finish the Arm In Guillotine Choke should the person get their arms in the way.
If this is a move you were interested in then I hope this video helps!
Thanks for watching.
