The Flavio Canto Choke is easy to attack from many places and it can be combined with another attack. In todayโs technique itโs connected to an Armbar

This is just one of the no gi gripfighting sequences taught in https://www.grapplearts.com/gripfighting, The Gripfighting and Kuzushi Formula featuring Rob Biernacki and Stephan Kesting
Offbalancing someone in the grappling arts is known as ‘Kuzushi’. Typically people use the term Kuzushi in a Judo context, but it can also be used in a jiu-jitsu context where you use it to set up sweeps, submissions and transitions to more dominant guard positions.
You can use Kuzushi from the guard in both gi and not gi, and in every form of guard including the closed guard, recumbent open guard, seated guard, half guard, etc.
The three basic types of Kuzushi from the guard are,
1, Hanging or swinging Kuzushi
2, Blocking or pushing Kuzushi, and
3, Intercepting Kuzushi
Once heโs off-balance and his alignment broken heโll be much easier to deal with. He wonโt be trying to pass your guard. Heโll be so off balance that all heโll be thinking about is recovering his position.
Check out our in-depth instructional on how to use gripfighting and Kuzushi to dominate the guard at https://www.grapplearts.com/kuzushi
The main paths of the #DoubleUnderPass is to either flatten them and #PassTheGuard to a version of #SideControl or to roll them to #TurtleGuard and #TakeTheBack
Here I also show how to assist with a #BreadCutterChoke

The Double Unders also known as Under Pass gives great access to the Back. Stacking Passes and Over Under Passes are easily connected as well

This is one of the first sweeps I like to teach people, because it is very simple and effective. It also combos well into a lot of moves, like the Kimura, Triangle Choke, Guillotine Choke, Half Crucifix, the Switch, and many more.
One of the main things people struggle with (as you will see here), is getting into proper position to initiate the hip bump. This is a great move for all people, but if you are long limbed, you will have an extra advantage because of how much you can elevate your hips.

One of the easiest ways of getting stuck in the guard is being in bad posture. Bad postures allow your opponent to easily hold their guard, submit you, sweep, you, and do all sorts of other bad things.
Good posture, however, allows you to weaken their guard, minimize threats, and achieve good striking positions.
In this video, I go over 3 basic postures: striking, grappling, and broken. I will say even at a black belt level, its very rare to find someone who has the striking posture down 100% – they always miss one detail regarding head positioning that is crucial.

One of the simplest and most effective guards for someone to learn is the Overhook guard. It’s pretty much a basic clinch that ties up the opponent and doesn’t allow them to do much of anything.
When they do struggle to escape, they can put themselves in arm bars, omoplatas, and of course, the triangle choke.
I show my method of setting up the triangle choke, which works for pretty much everyone as I’m not super flexible, and some finishing details most people aren’t aware of – that will have you finishing more triangles quickly.

That’s how long it has been since my last new instructional video post.
I’m working with a new student now, that I’m teaching from scratch as a white belt. So I think it will be informative for everyone to see just how I’m going to shape and mold this individual.
These first few videos will be basics, but as time goes on, we will get more advanced as he learns more about the fight game.
Even so, I work to break down every moving part so that even as a veteran, you might learn a thing or two. The first video is just about using the basic closed guard and the overhook.
