Quarter Guard Backstep – Into A Pass Or The Texas Cloverleaf

It was a hot Australian day and I thought we would cover a topic on getting caught in a quarter guard – right when you are passing your opponents guard. Now normally, for many guys, this will only slow them down not stop them. An Awesome Submission Series – From Mount

Being in mount is a completely dominant position. And sure, when you are up against a brand new white belt or perhaps someone on the street. You are pretty much guaranteed to finish the submission. But when your opponent has some skills developed in escaping mount – then that’s a different story. In this video, I cover mount submission in no-gi. Some Awesome Armbar Tips

The Armbar. One of the most fundamental submissions in Jiu-Jitsu. Particularly from guard. Unfortunately, we quickly learn how to defend them and this means as a submission apart from very new students they can become low or lower percentage. The effect of this is that many white belts quickly abandon this great submission. This should not be the case. Develop Your Open Guard – To Stop People Passing Your Guard

Open guard is a very cool guard and totally applicable in gi and no-gi. In this video, I discuss some great open guard drills that will have a tremendously positive impact on your guard retention. Now the first thing you must learn about open guard is that you should never let people control your legs! why? because they do this to eliminate (or significantly reduce) the impact of two of your powerful weapons. Don’t do that! Now part of this drill is continuously rotating one of your weapons every 20 seconds or so. This builds the habit of keeping dynamic rather than static. A Sneaky Attack – The Mouse Trap Americana

I’ve been doing a lot of Americana’s recently. Just ask my students! They are super effective. Why? because the rotator cuff in the shoulder just doesn’t have as much movement in that direction. This means it comes on very quickly. And the bigger stronger guys…even better! You have to be careful guys – because it does come on quickly, you need to be careful in its execution.
