Estima Lock and Estima Lock Escape – Friday Night Nogi with Budo Jake

The Estima Lock is a very effective foot lock (toe hold to be precise) developed by Victor Estima. It can be scary to be on the receiving end of this submission as the torque can come on very fast.

In this video, Budo Jake teaches how to go with the torque and use an inversion to escape and transition to an open guard or DLR guard.

Mounted Triangle – The Easy Way!

I love the mounted triangle. And so do my students. It is a very dominant position. Some people think that there are limited options from the mount. But this is untrue. And if you think about it, mount and guard are pretty much the same position. Just with a change of direction of gravity. So, everything you do from guard, you should be able to do from mount as well. And one of the most popular submissions from guard is of course – The Triangle. It should be no different from mount. Back Submission The Arm In Ezekiel

You have back control and you know that this is the ultra dominating position. And so it should be. But the reality is, it’s not always like that. Part of the reason for this is when someone has your back – you are working at 100% on your defense. Where often, you are not playing with that same level of intensity when you are going for the submission. This is particularly true for new BJJ students. Less so for more experienced students. It’s also difficult just to turn that intensity on. It will come on with time. But don’t give up. It’s worth the journey. So, what are you to do? In this video, I discuss a little tricky Ezekiel that works fantastic for no-gi. At sneaky. People are usually not expecting it and this can give you the advantage that you need.
