This past weekend following the ADCC North American Trials I saw a comment on Instagram that went something to the effect of “he beat that bjj Youtuber” or something like that.

And I honestly understand completely.

In a world of social media, there’s so much BS. As I talk about in the video there are so many situations and it often causes us to be apprehensive of people because we don’t want to be tricked.

And one of the things that is nice about me continuing to compete in BJJ competitions is that I can show you that I’m walking my walk.

I do the things that I say.

I may not be the best at every facet of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. But I walk my talk. I proceed with 100% integrity.

And I will continue to do so.

This year it will be in Tamarindo. Which is a new location. We’re all looking forward to it.

Here is a “foot trip to sasai” takedown that I have recently added to my game and has proven to be super effective on the mat.

This video was inspired by some concepts I gathered by watching Malachy Friedman’s work on what he refers to as The HeisenGuard. This guard configuration adds a lot of leverage to some bilateral set-ups for sweeps and submissions.

There are lots of options and opportunities, and in this video, with the help of Jared Jessup, I show the main entry to Omoplata, a back take option, a truck entry and a sweep to mounted triangle.

It’s “Throwback Thursday” and today I want to share with you some of the good times I spent in Marrakesh, Morocco with my Black Belt Mohamed Targuisti who is also a Sifu in Kung Fu.

Got the opportunity to learn some Hing Shun tricks and mix it with BJJ with Mohamed and Sifu Didier Beddar.

Having an open mind gives us the opportunity to be an eternal martial arts student.
