Andre Galvao is one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes of all time, with 6 IBJJF World Championship titles, 10 IBJJF Pan American Championships, and 6 ADCC World Championship titles (4x as the ADCC Super Fight Champion). He received his black belt from Luis “Careca” Dagmar, having also worked extensively with Fernando Terere. Galvão is also a former mixed martial artist, with an MMA record of 5-2-0 before he retired to lead the Atos Jiu-Jitsu Academy’s Headquarters in San Diego, California. In today’s video I show a fundamental submission series from Full Guard that I learned as a BJJ White Belt that was very helpful. The position I teach in this video has also been helpful to many of my students who are a bit on the bigger side.

The submission series starts from what I call from Diamond Guard. In it I show 4 submissions.

I’ve also found that this series is really useful for bigger guys like me who don’t have super quick hips and legs.

Brandon Mccaghren of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in Decatur Alabama shares one of the craziest and most elaborate of the Rubber Guard submissions, The Sorcerer.

As wild and unorthodox as this may seem, it’s actually not that unrealistic if you’re already a heavy rubber guard player.

A few years back, I noticed Rafael Lovato Jr finishing a lot of cross chokes from mount with a uncommon grip configuration. Afterward, I immediately started exploring its mechanics, and I’ve realized that the double palm grip has some unique benefits.

A basic concept that is extremely useful for injury prevention by limiting overuse injuries, improving your BJJ, and improving longevity in the body is known as “rotating the tires.”

This is not anything new but its a great concept to think about as it can force your opponent into a position or side they aren’t as comfortable from, it will distribute the load on your body and help maintain symmetry, and it will limit overuse injuries.
