Get The Choke From The Back – When They Duck The Chin!

How often do we get into great back control and then we move into finish off the rear naked choke…when your opponent ducks their chin in hard toward their chest. Making it very difficult to finish. At least difficult to finishing without choking through the jaw. Which we want to avoid to our training partners on the mat. They are our buddies after all! But of course, there are some great ways to get that choke which you can employ on the mat and equally in a competitive environment. I discuss a few of these techniques in this video. Mounted Triangle – The Easy Way!

I love the mounted triangle. And so do my students. It is a very dominant position. Some people think that there are limited options from the mount. But this is untrue. And if you think about it, mount and guard are pretty much the same position. Just with a change of direction of gravity. So, everything you do from guard, you should be able to do from mount as well. And one of the most popular submissions from guard is of course – The Triangle. It should be no different from mount. Back Submission The Arm In Ezekiel

You have back control and you know that this is the ultra dominating position. And so it should be. But the reality is, it’s not always like that. Part of the reason for this is when someone has your back – you are working at 100% on your defense. Where often, you are not playing with that same level of intensity when you are going for the submission. This is particularly true for new BJJ students. Less so for more experienced students. It’s also difficult just to turn that intensity on. It will come on with time. But don’t give up. It’s worth the journey. So, what are you to do? In this video, I discuss a little tricky Ezekiel that works fantastic for no-gi. At sneaky. People are usually not expecting it and this can give you the advantage that you need. A Darce And Anaconda Drill!

Spider Guard Into Triangle!

Baby Spider – Omoplata or Kimura? You Decide

As with yesterday’s quick rundown on the Baby spider…in this video, we discuss some nice submission entries. With a quick move of the leg and shifting your opponents shoulder blade…you can move them directly into a set-up for either the Kimura or the Omoplata. Either is fine for me…you decide? some like one better than the other. Sometimes it just comes down to the dynamics and positioning at the time of the roll.
