We all find the problem with closed guard is that eventually, more often than not, you need to open that guard. Negating the benefit of the closed guard. There are a couple of quick little tricks that can massively increase your performance. An Awesome De La Riva Guard Counter…this is a fantastic little hack that can move you from a defense to an attacking position. It’s sometimes referred to as the Rigan Trap. Named after the BJJ legend Rigan Machado. I step through this little move a couple of times. Check it out the video in detail. It’s a lot easier than it may at first appear. Omoplata From Half Guard – Using the Shoulder Sandwich!

The Easiest Guard Break in Jiu Jitsu?

I asked my professor and Coral belt legend…Carlos Machado, what was the best Guard Break in Jiu Jitsu – his answer was the Zombie Guard Break. Named because of the way you sway (like a zombie) during the guard break. I think the same. It is very robust & it works in the heavy scramble of competition.
