Can you flow?? Learning how to flow correctly is critical to developing your jiu jitsu game. Flow rolls and flow drills help keep your mind sharp, your techniques fluid, and your body from being wrecked by too much hard training. This movement sequence has been a useful flow drill for Jiu-Jitsu to activate your hips through the bridge and hip escape sequence followed by a shoulder roll.

This sequence has been useful to warm up the hips and back and is a great technique to practice guard retention or with getting more comfortable with inverting.

Make sure to start slow and controlled with the movement. It is important to avoid rolling on your neck by tucking the chin and rolling over the shoulders and upper back.

Here is a quick flow drill that I like to teach to my students in order to develop their hip mobility, leg dexterity, and coordination between arms and legs.

You gotta be familiar with the armbar, triangle, and omoplata, so if you are a brand new white belt this is probably not the best drill for you…

But if you are familiar with those submissions, this drill can definitely help your transitions and Jiu Jitsu overall.
