This combo of swithing to a cross sleeve grip and attacking the back is one of the easiest ways to attack a deadlifting opponent.

De la Riva is one of the most popular guards (along with variations of it) for competition in gi, no gi and even to a lesser degree in MMA. Understanding not only how to set up sweeps and submissions from this guard, but just how to energetically play this guard in general, can mean the difference between having a lot of success with it as a valuable tool, or failing miserably every time you try to access it. In this video, I discuss some extremely useful attacks with DLR, as well as ways to set it up and control it well. Hope you enjoy.

The Collar Sleeve Omoplata threat is one of the most foundational attacks in all of jiu jitsu. It’s very easy to establish collar sleeve control on your opponent and once you have those grip the omoplata threat will make your opponent expose so many other openings, DLR, Matrix, Triangle, and more. This video I show a simple system to apply this technique and include plenty of narrated sparring in the end to show it in action.

This is a really effective combination from Lazer Guard to Vice guard. The Lazer guard or cross sleeve guard is so powerful for setting up triangle chokes, but when you combine it with this vice guard set up its so hard to predict and defend.
