One of my favorite traps or kill zones in BJJ is the Triangle Crucifix. In this video I show how to escape the Kimura Trap and get to strangling your opponent!
When it comes to finishing the triangle, there are several potential responses you can expect and as you build up more responses for each of them, your choke finish rate will skyrocket.
Back takin’, position reversin’, counter attackin’ fun!!
The only submission I have been tapped with in competition is the Rear Naked Choke. Four times to be exact
None of these chokes were started from the back mount though. They were all started in transition. I say that because my choke defense from the back mount is solid. I have had Ronaldo “Jacare” DeSouza, Pablo Popovitch, and Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu on my back and they couldn’t do anything with it.
My secret defense was to choke myself first!
By taking the space under my chin they need to choke, it makes it near impossible to get a good choke.
Well, my black belt Jason “the Specimen” Soares has put an end to that with the 4 Finger Pull Back.
As you can see, it isn’t fun for me, lol!
Honestly, I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner. It is a clever way to break the defense and make it even easier to lock on a tight rear naked choke.
