Mounted Triangle – The Easy Way!

I love the mounted triangle. And so do my students. It is a very dominant position. Some people think that there are limited options from the mount. But this is untrue. And if you think about it, mount and guard are pretty much the same position. Just with a change of direction of gravity. So, everything you do from guard, you should be able to do from mount as well. And one of the most popular submissions from guard is of course – The Triangle. It should be no different from mount. The ‘Murder She Wrote’ Triangle Finish

Hi guys, I hope you like the title?! In this video, I discuss two ways that you can finish a triangle – when, well, you just don’t seem to be able to do it. Even when you seem to have everything in place. It can be frustrating right? I’ve been there. And that’s why I use these two little cheeky techniques when I am stuck. One of them I call the murder mystery triangle finish or the ‘murder she wrote’ finish. I hope you like these techniques guys. Go easy on your training partners when you try them. They can be quite intense.

The Sloppy Choke

Quick – what is your first impression of this choke?

If you said it was sloppy technique that you may have seen in some crappy action movie, I would have agreed with you before I knew better.

Jason has shown me how this sloppy choke can be used as a feint and make your opponent defend it easily, which leaves him open for a real choke that will put his lights out.

BackSweep Into An Armbar!

The back sweep is very effective at getting your opponent to the ground. But once they are on the ground the battle of speed and position begins. If your partner places his elbow or hand to the ground and stiff arms you right in the chest. Guess what? you are going to struggle to move. But you might remember a recent video on how to deal with stiff arms. This is very similar. You are going to change shape and use that stiff arm against him. That’s defensive weapon he has just deployed. Can be used for an offense. For an armbar! Give this one a try guys. You will love it. Let me know how you go…

A Darce And Anaconda Drill!

Hip Bump Sweep!

Tricks From Closed Guard!

An Awesome Spider Guard Tilt Sweep!

This is a little class I did recently…where we worked through baby spider and spider guard in a little bit of detail. This video, focuses on using Spider Guard to execute a nice Tilt Sweep. It’s really a neat, quick and effective move. When done right, oh boy is it hard to stop. And the great thing is, all the time while your opponent is trying to stop a submission attempt…you can execute this move and be on top. Fantastic. Give this one a try on the mats guys.
