At 19 Mikey made history, at 23 he is building his legacy. What many people didn’t know is that he is just as amazing off the mats as he is on it. Proud to call him my student and blessed to call him my friend. Can’t wait for the future, this is only the beginning.

@flograppling Documentary ! So last night FLOGRAPPLING released a documentary about my life in jiu jitsu. It’s been 19 years of training and so much hard work, I got really emotional watching it. Emotional from seeing all the times I felt everyone doubted me, at times even myself, and I still would find a way to overcome the obstacles. My story is a story of hard work and obsession, i was never the most gifted or talented in anything I did. But with hard work and good people, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to!!! I want to thank my professor @caioterrabjj for helping me so much, and believing in me when I didn’t necessarily believe in myself. He helps me not only in jiu jitsu but so much in life as well, pushing me out of my comfort zone always! I want to thank professor @emyrsharkbjjbussade for teaching me to fall in love with this crazy jiu jitsu lifestyle. Also! I want to thank my big sister, Tammi who has been my main training partner and best friend since I was a kid, and I’m so proud to have her as my sister! And everyone else that has helped me so much! Forever I will be grateful to you all! You don’t know if you can do something? Great! Don’t show anyone you can, SHOW YOURSELF! And then again and again!! The sky is the limit! I am 23 now I can literally compete another 17 years in black belt adult if I want, and I am extremely excited to see the future and what it entails! I support the Ibjjf but there is no excuse for this, missing a call is one thing, being a reff at a major and not knowing the rules is something entirely different. Ibjjf needs to do better, I always stress that all my students know the rules, their refs should too. Sorry they made another mistake, is something that I’m getting tired of hearing.
After horrible calls that cost my student Taylor Kettler several championships, my heart goes out to him again today at no gi pans.

Eu apoio a IBJJF mas não existe desculpa para isso. Errar é uma coisa, ser um árbitro em um campeonato de tamanha importância e não saber a regra é algo completamente diferente. A IBJJF precisa de melhorar, eu sempre cobro que os meus alunos precisam de saber as regras, então os seus árbitros também deveriam.
Desculpa nossos árbitros erraram novamente é algo que eu estou ficando cansado de ouvir.
Meu aluno Taylor já foi prejudicado inúmeras vezes e hoje não foi diferente no Pan NoGi.
