The bow and arrow choke is very common attack with the gi. Give these options a try if you are stuck deep in the choke.
Rob Biernacki shares the hidden adjustments that’ll make the Bow and Arrow Choke your main way of finishing from the back in BJJ. From “The Submission Formula”, on sale on Amazon for a limited time only! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZBM264Y?ref=myi_title_dp
This trap using the skirt of the lapel essentially makes a sling for your opponent’s arm, isolating it and dismantling half of their defense against the choke options. Great tool based off the kimura threat in the gi.
We discuss basic escape options for the most common collar chokes from the back mount in jiu-jitsu. The basic collar choke in bjj is still a high percentage submission but most people now try for the bow and arrow choke. We explain how to defend and escape both.

This is one of the the sneakiest techniques using the skirt of the lapel that I absolutely love. I don’t remember where I learned this originally, but I believe it was from Caique. It’s absolute gold for when your opponent defends the Kimura setup by grabbling his own gi material. Off this trap, you have lots of options, and I focus on just a couple here. Hope you like it. Let me know what other attacks you have from this position that I might be missing out on. Thank you all for watching and be sure to turn on notifications after subscribing. Here are some of the best, high percentage submissions from the mount. The mount, while a very dominant position, isn’t always the easiest to find submissions from against an opponent with solid defense. These attacks start from basic and get progressively more deceptive and tricky, making them very difficult to see coming and defend.

Total Back Control Online Course: https://www.mmaleech.com/totalbackcontrol/
One of the most important elements in order to become a successful finisher from the Back position is knowing how to clear your opponents defenses, a.k.a. hand fighting.
Trapping one of his arms with your leg is always a great option, but you may still need to deal with his grips in order to finish the choke.
In the video above I explain some strategies that you should be using if you wanna have a high finishing rate from the Back position.
BTW, this video is a sample clip from our latest online course named Total Back Control, available at https://www.mmaleech.com/totalbackcontrol/

Have you noticed that the one common trait among all top guys in our sport is that they have insanely good Back Control?
They rarely lose the position, and once they get there, it’s over… their finishing rate is extremely high!
So it’s no wonder that the Back is considered the most dominant position in Jiu Jitsu, and when it’s done right, it’s virtually IMPOSSIBLE to escape from.
I’m talking about world-class Black Belts being controlled and submitted – that’s how strong the Back Control is!
Now that’s a skill, and it comes with hours and hours of training and repetition…
But if you wanna get good at it, you gotta start somewhere, and most importantly, start it right… you simply can’t afford to waste time trying to figure this out all by yourself.
You need proper guidance that’s gonna lead you to substantial improvements in your Jiu Jitsu, in the least amount of time.
As you may suspect, it’s no accident that all top guys in our sport are insanely good at the Back Control. There is a SYSTEM behind all that success, and I’m about to break it down for you…
A reliable system that allows you to STAY on your opponent’s Back for as long as necessary, until you find your submission.
Knowing how to stay glued to your opponent and recover the Back as he tries to escape is a huge piece of the puzzle, and I cover it in detail during this course!
Your opponent will only escape if you make a mistake, and you will be able to immediately identify what it is if you follow this system by the letter. You’ll also keep sharpening and tightening up your Back Control based on the feedback you receive during practice.
You see, if you are losing the most dominant position in Jiu Jitsu and can’t figure out what’s wrong, it’s time to get serious about it and invest in yourself.
Total Back Control is a complete system on how to take, maintain, recover, and finish from the Back position.
Most of the techniques taught in this course are followed by competition footage examples, so you can rest assured this is not just some theoretical stuff that only works if your opponent is offering little to no resistance – NOPE, that’s not how we do things over here.
The whole course is filled with battle-tested techniques that have been proven to work over and over again, so you can start implementing them into your game right away.
Gi or No-Gi, no problem – we give valuable tips for both styles.

Just type on BJJ fingers into Google Images and you will see what happens when you get injured fingers in Jiu Jitsu. It’s not pretty. But it does not have to be that way. There is a simple technique a simple hack that can change all of that. It might take a while to adjust at first but once you do…all those aching and injured finger days will be behind you. And what’s better – your grip will strengthen. Check out this video where I describe how to do this hack. I know you are going to love it. Give it a try. Let me know how you go.

I have been asked many a time to add commentary to some of the rolls that I have filmed and posted. As my regular viewers would know, I roll regularly with my students. Many times in a continuous series. So that I get a chance to stretch my cardio and give the students time to catch their breath and think about their next attack/approach. As usual, I look to do techniques that we teach in class and that I show on The Grappling Academy YouTube channel. Getting into deep waters and battling my way out is also part of the conditioning/training routine. I hope you enjoy the commentary. Let me know if there are any moves you might like me to talk more about. Enjoy!

The AWESOME – Cutting Armbar! this is a quick look at part of a session on cutting armbars I did with my class recently. It is a really tough move and opens up many opportunities. Defenses against it are limited but (as always with Jiu Jitsu) there are counters to the counters. Take a look at this video. Treat the technique with respect. Let me know what you think
