Grace Gundrum is one of the fastest rising stars in grappling and for good reason: she’s a stone cold technician. This is one of the coolest transitions you’re ever gonna see and she hit it in a money tournament, Finishers 10. Finishers is an EBI rules tournament.
I started calling this move the Ginger Snap (I’m sure there are other names for it, call it whatever you want) after one of my Blue Belts (Chad Allen, at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in Decatur, Alabama) kept hitting it in competition. I don’t know what Grace calls it, but it’s one of the weirdest moves in all of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It’s even weird for us 10th Planet folk, and that’s saying something. It basically works like a lockdown on the arms.
Anyway, I’ve included some footage of Chad hitting it in competition several times.
I hope you guys dig these bmac breakdowns. I like doing them and it’s also cool to put some shine on some of our coolest competitor on the no gi BJJ scene, especially the Sub Only scene.
