Epi 68 Bjj Black belt Roli Delgado interview
This week we have an interview with Rolando Delgado often called Roli. Roli is a 2nd degree black belt that trains in Little Rock Arkansas at West Side MMA. Roli has fought in the UFC and Bellator, but he is most widely known in the BJJ community for his ability to teach and preform leg locks.
Some highlights from this interview:
“The most dangerous moves in Jiu-Jitsu are take-downs and kimuras”
“Reaping the knee is a risk that is way overstated and blown out of proportion”
“With the Gi on I am okay with no heal hooks…. we need a sport that we can all do and grow old with.”
We also talk about:
His start to the martial arts
What he does off of the mat (hunting deer and owning a pawn shop)
His recent trip to Brazil
How he started focusing on leg locks
His app “Legal Leg Locks for BJJ“
Why some people don’t like leg locks
Using legs locks to be used for a Bjj Brick
The rules for BJJ and leg locks
Why mid level blue belt is a good time to start working on leg locks
Finding confidence in your game from hard work
Advice for students that are competing for the first time
Why you should be trying to funnel your match into your strong areas
The concept of defend than attack
His match with Jason Bircher in Respect 1 on Feb 28

Mastering The System 73: The New Final 3
http://10thPlanetJJ.com/techniques
Hello brothers and sisters!
I hope all is wonderful. Mastering The System 73 “The New Final 3” is now live! In this episode I unveil the new final 3 steps to the grand daddy of all submissions, the twister. Although the original final 3 steps are still very alive and effective, the new final 3 steps were designed to beat the best at defending the twister. It used to be a lot easier to tap my sparring partners with the twister but quite a few of my top students have developed a very tight defense over the last few years, so tweaks had to be made. This episode is crucial for all looking to master the twister. Also in this episode I introduce a new set of pre-warm ups. At HQ our pre-warm ups have been shrimps, cart wheels and hand walking every day before the official warm ups. Now we are alternating with a new set that Geo and Boogey taught me. They are break dancing warm ups that translate beautifully to Jiu Jitsu, you are gonna love them. Plus I break down my personal favorite pressure pass, “the chest pass”. This pass is so important that I decided to ad it to warm ups C. Another technique that I teach on this episode is the rolling toe hold from Z guard. This vital technique falls into the “Hail Mary” category and it is now added to warm ups B. This episode is packed with loads of important information including Nathan Orchard’s reverse spider web series, you don’t want to miss this!! Thank you very much for the support! Enjoy! Eddie
The 'Ultimate BJJ Back Attacks': Wings of Victory / Chokes & More!
Ninjas, in this video I bust out a series of gnarly little chokes and arm-bars galore! This little experiment I call, “The Ultimate Back Attack”! Play around with these moves and make whatever adjustments you need to compliment your body size / flexibility, etc. I show a few variations on the choke that work well if you have shorter limbs. Yes, some of these moves do require decent flexibility, but you don’t need to be a yoga master either! Remember, flexibility comes from a daily, disciplined stretching routine. I am more flexible in my mid 40’s than when I was in my early 20’s! Why, because now I stretch every chance I get. I rarely sit in chairs anymore as I would rather be on the floor stretching. Make it a part of your training, not just something you do 5 minutes before you roll. Good Luck and as always, Happy Training!

BJJ Tutorial – Powerful Guard Pass Prevention – Firas Zahabi
Preventing the Guard pass is the most important aspect of Jiu-Jitsu. The position is called Guard for the very purpose that the Guard position is what protect the bottom fighter from being attacked. Loose the Guard and you will not only be vulnerable to attacks but you will also start to get tired, once tired your technique will start to suffer.
Be sure to train your Guard preventions above all. Having a difficult Guard to pass will allow you to relax and have the confidence to attack you opponent. The harder you Guard is to pass the more you can open up and take chance.
Be sure to work this sequence it is a very power recipe for Guard retention.
