Yesterday I showed a closed guard break video that got some negative feedback from people saying that it would leave you vulnerable to a sweep (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BO3wSEPN30). Here’s my response to the people who politely asked me about countering the lumberjack sweep attack during that guard break

How to Use A BJJ Journal ( 5 Journals I Use for Jiujitsu )
Do you keep a BJJ journal? Do you think a Jiujitsu journal is a good idea?
If so what style of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu journal do you keep?
For me personally, I’m an avid journal keeper. I’ve had some ongoing journal since I was 18 years old. Both personal and Jiujitsu related. And over the years I’ve tried different styles of journals to document my experiences, training and just life in general. And the styles of journals I’ve had related to training have changed over the years through my journey from White Belt to Black Belt.
In this video I share some of the journals that I use currently use in my training and discuss some ways that might be useful for you in your own training.
One of the big things I discuss in this BJJ video is how I dislike keeping a Jiujitsu journal solely for BJJ techniques. Often over the years when I look back at these journals. I don’t really remember what I was talking about.
So one of the more important aspects I document in my BJJ journal is the experiences I have during situations like tournaments and competitions, great training sessions, and really any big experience that’s happening in my life related to Brazilian Jiujitsu.
I also use a journal to write down what BJJ drills I plan to drill during a practice. This helps me stay on task and make sure I hit my goals.
Anyways, you can watch the rest in the video. I hope it helps!

Get the 50/ 50 Position Take The Sweep Into A Footlock!
The 50/50 Position – Some people hate this position. But I love it. Why, well, probably because I use it. Sure the position can be used for stalling…which is no good… but if it’s used for sweeps and attacks – then this is the move for you. And it certainly is the move for me. Watch this video as I discuss how to use the 50.50 to get a great sweep and straight into a footlock or other potential attack positions. It sure is killer! Enjoy guys. As always, give it a try on the mat and let me know how you go…

Collar Drag – Then Take The Back!
Where do you go from having your opponent in guard? well, the answer for a Jiu Jitsu practitioner is ‘almost anywhere’ – why? because this is one of the sports main positions. Where you go from guard and can define your ability in the sport. One of my favourite transitions is to move from guard into a back take. And guess what guys…it’s much easier than you think. With a little practice and of course technique. Watch this video as I discuss some of the nuances of this transition and what it can open up for you. I know you are going to love it. Give it a try on the mat and let me know how you do…

Total Back Control Online Course – Preview
Total Back Control Online Course: https://www.mmaleech.com/TotalBackControl/
Have you noticed that the one common trait among all top guys in our sport is that they have insanely good Back Control?
They rarely lose the position, and once they get there, it’s over… their finishing rate is extremely high!
So it’s no wonder that the Back is considered the most dominant position in Jiu Jitsu, and when it’s done right, it’s virtually IMPOSSIBLE to escape from.
I’m talking about world-class Black Belts being controlled and submitted – that’s how strong the Back Control is!
Now that’s a skill, and it comes with hours and hours of training and repetition…
But if you wanna get good at it, you gotta start somewhere, and most importantly, start it right… you simply can’t afford to waste time trying to figure this out all by yourself.
You need proper guidance that’s gonna lead you to substantial improvements in your Jiu Jitsu, in the least amount of time.
As you may suspect, it’s no accident that all top guys in our sport are insanely good at the Back Control. There is a SYSTEM behind all that success, and I’m about to break it down for you…
A reliable system that allows you to STAY on your opponent’s Back for as long as necessary, until you find your submission.
Knowing how to stay glued to your opponent and recover the Back as he tries to escape is a huge piece of the puzzle, and I cover it in detail during this course!
Your opponent will only escape if you make a mistake, and you will be able to immediately identify what it is if you follow this system by the letter. You’ll also keep sharpening and tightening up your Back Control based on the feedback you receive during practice.
You see, if you are losing the most dominant position in Jiu Jitsu and can’t figure out what’s wrong, it’s time to get serious about it and invest in yourself.
Total Back Control is a complete system on how to take, maintain, recover, and finish from the Back position.
Most of the techniques taught in this course are followed by competition footage examples, so you can rest assured this is not just some theoretical stuff that only works if your opponent is offering little to no resistance – NOPE, that’s not how we do things over here.
The whole course is filled with battle-tested techniques that have been proven to work over and over again, so you can start implementing them into your game right away.
Gi or No-Gi, no problem – we give valuable tips for both styles.
