Being able to escape the honey hole is an important skill set to have – now more than ever as people are becoming increasingly proficient in this position.

The Knee Frame is one of the more basic ways to get out of the honey hole. There are several variations of this escape, but I am a fan of this one because I keep control of one of his arms throughout my escape – making it difficult for my opponent to attack me while I do my escape. So even if I fail, I’m still not in imminent danger.

What’s the best way to help coach someone during a BJJ tournament or match?

This is today’s question which comes from Joe in the Chewjitsu Facebook group.

During the video I talk about some of the practices that have been helpful to me both as a competitor and a BJJ coach.

You might find that you do some of the things I’m talking about not doing during a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Competition.

And if that’s the case, don’t consider me automatically right. Try some of the coaching tips I give in this video and see how they work for you.

I also talk about an MMA fight and some of my past matches to give examples of why I favor these queues as a coach.

This is a variation of a classic balloon sweep from the x guard. In this case instead of rolling over with our opponent, we let them roll first which gives us the gap to force the double under pass.

There are so many guards and ways to use them in Jiu-Jitsu that I can’t even imagine how long a comprehensive list would take.
