Would you like to add more pressure with your BJJ game. Maybe Side Control or Mount positions? Perhaps you’d like the ability to make your submissions a little stronger?
In this video I share some simple tips I give to my White Belts that you can incorporate with your Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training to add more strength and power to these positions.
In the video I talk about how often, at least early on, people become focused on one part of their body in absence of the other.
So if someone is in side control they SQUEEZE with the arms but the rest of the body is not doing much. If someone goes for an Armbar they may begin focusing on just a pull of the arms instead of a whole body extension against their opponent.
During the video I share a couple of examples of how you could add more pressure and tightness. These are tips I share with my BJJ White Belts all the time and they’re helpful for them with their training and rolling.
So if you’re having trouble keeping pressure in positions or maybe you just want to add more to your Brazilian Jiujitsu game. Then I hope this video is helpful.

A good half guard or knee shield player can be extremely frustrating to go against. Most people get swept or leglocked almost instantly from this position because they just can not pass it.
Here is an option that makes the half guard Just a little bit easier.
It did for me anyways!
Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Most everyone’s favorite guard submission to catch is also most everyone’s least favorite to get caught with. The triangle is a powerful and versatile technique and can be very difficult to defend or even prevent. This video will hopefully help with that.
These are some of the best counters and preventative measures I’ve come across over the years from different teachers and from getting caught in plenty of triangles myself.
Here’s what’s included:
• Early Escape
• Step Through Triangle Counter
• Stack to Posture Triangle Counter
• Bulldog Escape
• Late Escape
The Hail Mary Escape

Thank you, everyone!
I share how I thought I invented the baseball bat choke from the bottom. I had a lot of success with this move during my younger competitive years. I’m sure someone else had done the move before me but at least I can say I somewhat discovered it. Maybe you’ll like this variation.
In this video I show a useful combined movement that incorporates the shoulders, mid and low back, and inner thigh areas to actively warm up prior to activity such as Jiu-Jitsu.
The “Prayer Stretch” position in a wide knee position will address the shoulders, mid-low back, and inner hips.
Followed by a reach through with focuses on the back of the shoulder (posterior capsule stretch) and a mid to low back (thoracic and lumbar spine) rotation stretch.
The gentle overpressure with the other hand provides a more significant stretch. This is a useful and effective technique that I have used to warm up and get my body ready for activity.

In 2015 I had to have a kidney transplant, receiving one of my brother’s kidneys in a living donor transplant. It saved my life. This is the story of that transplant (eternal thanks to https://www.instagram.com/christophkesting/), the recovery process, and getting back to normal.
