“Andre Galvao is one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes of all time, with 6 IBJJF World Championship titles, 10 IBJJF Pan American Championships, and 6 ADCC World Championship titles (4x as the ADCC Super Fight Champion). He received his black belt from Luis “Careca” Dagmar, having also worked extensively with Fernando Terere. Galvão is also a former mixed martial artist, with an MMA record of 5-2-0 before he retired to lead the Atos Jiu-Jitsu Academy’s Headquarters in San Diego, California. Today, Atos is considered one of the best jiu-jitsu academies in the world, producing World Champion athletes at all levels, from juvenile and white belt all the way to black belt.

Galvao’s mission is to share the lessons, techniques, and experience he has acquired over his 20+ years of experience as a BJJ practitioner, professor, and world-class competitor.

In this video, I demonstrate the use of Kinesiotape (stretchy tape) for swelling control.

I recently sprained my ankle and had some associated swelling with the injury.

I used this taping technique to assist with promoting swelling reduction.

Its a really simple and in most cases an effective technique to help with the recovery process.

This variation on rubber guard explores some extremely useful submission opportunities from a very effective position. Rubber guard is powerful whether gi or no gi, and this series is a great one.

Quem é Gustavo Dantas?

Gustavo Dantas, 45 anos, é faixa preta quinto grau do mestre André Pederneiras e, atualmente está morando em Phoenix, Arizona, É autor, palestrante e criador do movimento The BJJ Mental Coach, que ajuda os atletas a se prepararem psicologicamente para situações sob pressão, como por exemplo, competições. Gustavo chegou aos Estados Unidos em 1999 com pouco mais de $2000, com o visto de turismo e seu sonho de adolescente: ter a sua própria academia e viver da sua paixão, o Jiu-Jitsu. No dia 6 de Março de 2012 Gustavo realizou o seu sonho e a Academia Gustavo Dantas de Jiu-Jitsu foi criada com o seguinte lema: “Acredite em si mesmo, acredite nos seus sonhos. Trabalho árduo sempre será recompensado.” Formado em Educação Física pela UFRJ, com especialização em Mental Coach e Life Coach, ele compartilha sua experiência de 30 anos de Jiu-Jitsu com a comunidade do esporte mundo a fora. Entre vários títulos conquistados, Gustavo foi campeão Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu adulto da IBJJF na faixa roxa e marrom, campeão Mundial master faixa preta, possui um histórico de 2-0 no MMA e competiu no ADCC em 2001 e 2003. Gustavo começou a sua missão de divulgar o Jiu-Jitsu Brasileiro no estado do Arizona, aonde se tornou o presidente da AZSBJJL (Arizona State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu League). Em 2000 iniciou a organização de um campeonato interno com 40 competidores e, em 2019 conseguiu a marca de mais de 4000 atletas por ano, tornando-se um dos eventos mais bem organizados dos Estados Unidos. This video I breakdown my system for passing the double sleeve guard. This guard has two main styles one is the spider and the other is what I refer to as leg past body where your opponent has broken your grip on the non lasso side. First I deal with preventing your opponent from getting into double sleeve by hiding your free arm and using a knee cut pass pressure to kill the lasso I have show this system before here ( https://youtu.be/t2I5xWr_8bs ), then I show how to kill the spider using the loop out and throw method I have shown before here ( https://youtu.be/cJJLmy4UChI ) Finally the final method I kill the leg past body by trying to get a grip on the knee and trapping the leg or using a combo of the lasso loop out and shin slide.
